This week's Workshop Series...

Time flies!!!  I am so missing writing the blog everyday but life gets busy and a week is gone before I know it.  I have so much to say, I do not know where to start.  

First things first.  Congratulations to Amina from Cape Town.  She is our lucky Easter egg hunt winner.  She will be receiving her Easter basket full of Caramel and Vanilla scented decadent Easter products shortly.  I hope she loves her fantastic products!!!

Right; this week I hosted another Workshop series and our young lady was fantastic.  As last week, we made Soaps, Body Scrubs, Bath Bombs and Bath Salts, Deodorants and Body Creams.  Now, you need to know that the manual contains the basic formulas of each product but the conception in terms of scent, colour and general appearance is the choice of our young lady.  I like to give my participants the freedom to choose the overall look of their products because it is their participation into the final outcome.  It also initiates a new perspective and opens endless possibilities for them.  Here are the pictures of our young lady's wonderful process:

The soap is now moulded for 24 hours.

The final soap bars scented with Warm Coconut.  She added some poppy seeds for the bar to deliver a gentle exfoliation.

This is our Chocolate and Vanilla Scented Body Scrub.

This is our Sweet Berry scented Bath Butter Bomb.  It also contains some glitter (which you can't see on the screen) and Chamomile Flowers for decoration.

What a glorious week.  It was awesome to experience another wonderful lady’s creativity and inquisitiveness into the art of making natural cosmetics.  Thank you so much for your attention and willingness to explore the limitless possibilities of Natural cosmetics.  

Thrilled with her products and new acquired knowledge, our young lady is now equipped and excited to engage this journey on her own.

Useless to say that through this creative process, I also learn whilst I teach and as my mom said to me one day: "There is something new to learn everyday".  I believe her...  In fact there is more than something new to learn, there's loads to learn and that's what makes everyday unique, endlessly inspiring and humbling.

Body Scrub making workshop

Good Morning Everyone,

Last night was the very first body scrub making workshop I have done and it was amazing.  For 3 years now, I have been making and using my own natural body scrubs.  I can notice that it has enhanced the overall quality of my skin.  My skin is stronger, more flexible and less likely to split and dry.

It is always fascinating for me to see that most people do not use scrubs and do not know the importance of this product for the well being of their skin.  It is such an underrated product and should be at the top of everyone's list in my opinion.  I was one of those people, 3 years ago, that had no idea and no desire to use scrubs as part of my routine and i can honestly say that this product has changed not only the way I see my skin but the way I engage my cleaning routine.  Showering has become an exciting part of my life as opposed to a "I have to" exercise.  I now had to pass on my personal experience and the facts about scrubbing to my lovely ladies participating in the making of this fabulous product.  I think they are now definitely going to use this product weekly for the well being of their skin.

During the first session of this workshop, I explained what is a scrub, how it works and how important it is.  Then, done with the talking, all about action, I demonstrated how to use the product to my lovely ladies and we all scrubbed our hands for THE TEST!!!!  Well, well, well, this is when they got it!!!  Talking is all good but the experience tells the story.  I then saw the sparkles in their eyes.  They could now physically see all I'd told them about the product and that for me is magic.  Only then, could we proceed into making the product with hearts filled with jubilation.

After making our fantastic, delicious scrub, we proceeded to cut our 2 bars of soap made the previous night. The first batch we cut was the green tea and glitter soap they made on their cold process soap making workshop and the second batch was the one I demonstrated.  With a cucumber and aloe scent, green clay and linseeds.  Here are the pictures:

I would like to thank these lovely ladies again for making this possible.  Without them, I would not be able to share this experience with you.  They are so inspired, so inspiring and are discovering a world, previously unknown to them.  It is humbling to see such wonderful ladies enjoying and learning the magic behind the glamour.

Exfoliators Workshop

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Today my post will focus on Exfoliators (Scrubs).  
I am sure all of you know the significance of using exfoliators.  They are the absolute must if you want your skin to be the healthiest it can be.  I started using scrubs a long time ago and after using so many different types of them, I can say for sure that the best I have used are natural.

Commercial scrubs have so little abrasive material that a small difference can be noticed.  I never really experienced a proper scrub before using a natural scrub.  I knew exfoliation was very important but I never really felt a significant difference after scrubbing with commercial products. On the other hand, the first sugar based scrub I used made me understand thoroughly how important this process is.  It cleared my skin completely whilst moisturising it.  Its fundamental purpose is to free your skin of dead skin cells that lay at the surface of the skin.  The cells make the skin look dull and dry whilst possibly getting trapped within your pores, thus creating irregular skin surface.  A scrub will remove these dead skin cells, allowing the new vibrant skin to come through and breathe.  This process promotes the renewal of new skin cells, therefore keeping your skin young, healthy and vibrant.  
With 3 years of natural scrub use, my skin is stronger, more flexible and is always glowing.  Of course the use of a moisturiser is vital, however moisturising skin that is not clear does not deliver the same outcome.

With 3 years of research on exfoliators, I have designed The Body Bar Exfoliators Workshop.  As with the CP soap workshop, this one is also broken down into 2 sessions, the first one dealing with detailed information about product and the second one with the practical side of the process. It is a 2 hours session that costs R300. Everything is provided on site (raw-material and equipment).  Everyone participating will create their own exfoliator and of course will get to keep it.  You will also receive the Exfoliators manual for reference.  The first workshop is on the morning of the 5th of April and the second workshop is on the afternoon/evening of the 12th of April.  Hope to see you there as I will be facilitating the workshop.  Both will be held in Westville.
